Academic Director (Chair) of the Departments of Electrical and Mechatronic Engineering

The Departments of Electrical and Mechatronic Engineering at the ‘Universidad de Ingenieria y Tecnologia’ (UTEC), Lima, Peru, invite applications for the Academic Director of the Departments of Electrical and Mechatronic Engineering at the Full Professor rank. We are especially interested in the following areas, but not limited to: (1) robotics, (2) design and control of mechatronic systems, (3) machine learning, (4) computer vision, (5) Internet of Things (IoT), (6) human-centered cyber physical systems, (7) biomedical engineering, (8) smart engineering, (9) real-time imaging and machine vision systems, and (10) automotive systems. Desired courses to be taught are: Design of Mechatronic Systems, Foundations of Robotics, Design of nonlinear systems and other graduate courses.

Once hired, the successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, to obtain competitive external funding, to establish an effervescent cross-disciplinary research program, and to contribute through service to the profession, to the department, and to UTEC.  Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in electrical, mechatronic, robotics or relevant field required;
  • Experience writing journal publications;
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body;
  • Fluent in English (Spanish is a plus).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching electrical and mechatronic engineering courses;
  • Experience writing grant proposals;
  • Demonstrated interest in working with academic, industry, and/or community partners.
